The Siksika Nation Police Commission upholds the principles of law enforcement, ensure public safety, and foster positive community relations for Siksika Nation.

The Siksika Police Commission is the civilian body to which the Siksika Nation Police Service is accountable. Members of the Police Commission are appointed by Siksika Nation Ohkinniinaa ki Ninaaks, and oversee policing on Siksika Nation. Members make decisions in the best interest of public safety for Siksika Nation community members, and issue instructions as a statutory body in accordance with the Alberta Police Act.

The Siksika Police Commission plays a pivotal role in establishing Siksika Nation’s own independent police service. This initiative, which began in 2022 with collaboration from Siksika, the Government of Canada, and the Province of Alberta, aims to enhance public safety on Siksika Nation. The Police Commission will continue to engage with Provincial and Federal governments on policing arrangements ongoing, and will establish a headquarter office on the East side of the reserve.
